Tools
“Own fewer things. Know them well.”
The minimum
- a frying pan, the heavier the better
- a pot big enough for pasta for two, and later for a whole cabbage
- a knife that is sharp, which matters more than which knife
- a fork, a spoon, a wooden spoon
- a board
That is the whole list from the original post, and it still cooks everything here except the bread.
Worth adding, one at a time
- a wok, once you have made the Chinese pork in a frying pan and wished it were hotter
- a casserole dish with a lid, for gołąbki and anything that goes into the oven
- a meat hammer, see the schabowe tip about flatmates
- a baking tray or stone for the bread
- kitchen scales; "2 spoons" got this blog a long way, but grams are kinder to beginners
Not needed
Garlic press, egg slicer, avocado tool, anything with "as seen on TV" on the box. A knife does all of it.
